Tretinoin cream skin care products

We are always eager to find out more about what we are putting on our skin. Also, there is nothing wrong with taking health precautions and making sure we spend our money wisely on effective products.

What is the best anti-aging product?

First of all, it is important to have a daily sunscreen to avoid the formation of wrinkles and blemishes.

The next best option you can use? Retinoid. Of all the retinoids available, tretinoin remains the most studied and tested for its anti-aging properties. If you are unfamiliar with tretinoin, know that it is a retinoid derived from vitamin A.

ANTI-AGE

Tretinoin is the most studied retinoid for the treatment of aging wrinkles. Retinoids have been studied since the 1980s, and have been shown to improve the appearance of wrinkles, decrease brown spots, and equalize skin discoloration. Tretinoin works by increasing collagen formation.

So who should use tretinoin? The use of the product is safe for everyone who is interested in an anti-aging routine. For anti-aging, start before age 30.

ACNE

Tretinoin promotes the renewal of skin cells, retinoids like tretinoin are the absolute backbone of an acne treatment, whether it is to treat blackheads, whiteheads, mild, moderate or severe acne. Retinoids are the foundation of acne treatment, as they unclog pores.

If you use it for acne prevention or treatment, you can start at an even younger age.

THE SECUNDARY EFFECTS

One of the major secondary factors of tretinoin is irritation, redness, peeling, dryness, and burning.

For some, especially those with sensitive skin or skin conditions like rosacea, a prescription retinoid can be too irritating, and an over-the-counter retinol can be a great alternative. Of course, an over-the-counter retinol might not deliver results as quickly, but it can definitely improve discoloration and fine lines. Plus, you won't have to go to your dermatologist to get it.

It is recommended to be used in conjunction with a mild cleanser and your regular moisturizer. You are also advised to avoid products that contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and benzoyl peroxide if you use a retinoid. And if you have particularly sensitive skin, it might be beneficial to start using a pea-sized amount every other night for easier treatment.

WHERE TO FIND IT

Retinoids can also be found over the counter in a weaker form called retinol.

If you're not sure how to choose an over-the-counter retinol, go for one that is medical grade for best results. It is important to keep this in mind. The fact that a product is marketed as retinol does not guarantee that it will deliver similar results to tretinoin.
