Gimme Some Wheatgrass!

Several years ago I overindulged in some imbibements that I think were laced with vodka!! I was hungover and had to be at work in an hour. I stumbled through the doors of my friendly local smoothie shop and croaked out;

“What do you recommend for a 5-star hangover?”

Thankfully the guy working was no stranger to letting the goods time roll. He told me to take a seat and he’d bring the cure right over (he actually even winked at me).

Minutes later he arrived at my table with a little plate with two thimble size cups full of an intensely green liquid and two orange slices. He said shoot these back and eat the oranges and you can thank me in my tip jar. I knocked back what smelled like the bag you empty from the lawnmower and ate the oranges. A few minutes later i dropped a $20 in the tip jar and literally skipped out the door. I was healed and not only healed but feeling good!!!

That is When my love affair with wheatgrass began and I am happy to say we are still together to this very day.

Here’s the informational portion of how this strangely delicious sprout can cure an epic hangover and so much more.

Wheatgrass is young wheat which is sprouted and grown for about 7-10 days. The deep green cereal grass is harvested (cut) and juiced in specially designed wheatgrass juicers. Health-conscious people drink wheatgrass juice as an easy way of getting some deep green vegetables into their diet. I read a poster on the wall of the smoothie shop that said 1 oz. of wheatgrass has the same amount of nutrients as 2.5 lbs of raw vegetables.

The reported Benefits of Wheatgrass Juice:

•Feel More Alert & Awake

•Anti-Aging Effects

•Healthier Hair, Skin, & Nails

•Improvement in Overall Physical & Mental Health. I can personally attest to these benefits. Check it out, here I am and I’m 76 years old. kidding, I’m only 62.

Drinking Wheatgrass Regularly Benefits:

•Protect Against Cancer-Causing Chemicals

•Rids the Body of Toxins (like Heavy Metals)

•Stabilizes Blood Sugar Levels & Alkalinity

•Improves Digestion

Wheatgrass works with your body by providing it with whole, live nutrients.

This allows the body to heal itself by ridding your system of toxins.

Fresh wheatgrass juice is known to have all the nutrients necessary to sustain life. literally a liquid of pure vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and phytonutrients in their simplest forms. This requires minimal digestive activity, and absorbed by your system immediately.

Wheatgrass Contains:

Vitamin C - Equivalent to citrus fruits.

Vitamin A - Equivalent to the amount from 48oz of dark green lettuce and carrots.

All the Minerals Found in Healthy Soil (over 100) - Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, etc.

Trace Minerals - Selenium, Zinc, etc.

Essential Amino Acids - "The building blocks of proteins".

"Live" Enzymes - these little guys carry out several essential functions within the body. We don‘t get these enzymes when we eat cooked vegetables because the heat deactivates them. That’s why it’s essential to have live, raw plant-based foods in your diet.

Wheatgrass contains a ton of chlorophyll,

and thousands of phytonutrients (plant nutrients) only found in raw produce. These nutrients are the true reason wheatgrass, sprouted greens, and other raw produce are so beneficial for us.

Antioxidants - Some of the phytonutrients include antioxidants which can eliminate free radicals that damage our body’s tissues. A study once suggested wheatgrass contains higher antioxidant levels than typical vegetables.

Drink wheatgrass daily:

1-2 ounces a day to be healthier & have more energy.

Drink wheatgrass on an empty stomach.

wheatgrass is most beneficial when it is consumed without other food or drink.

If you absolutely need a chaser, try sucking on an orange wedge.

Spread your ounces out over the day (ex. 1 hour before meals).

Swish the juice in your mouth before swallowing, allowing the juice to

nourish the gums and mix with saliva, beginning the natural digestive process.

I would never kid about a hangover cure because I love you that much!
